Polland, Donald

1932 – 2003 ( American Western Pewter Sculptor)
Donald Polland’s interest in the West and the Cowboy and Indian relationships began at age 15 years when he started working as a stable boy on a thoroughbred horse farm. He had an opportunity to study foundry work and in 1966 he began to sculpt his western series in miniature. His art led him to choose pewter as his sculpting medium and he produced only miniature limited edition sculptures that underscored the development of the United States from the early times of the 19th century in the frontiers of the West. He is considered to be the Remington of miniature western pewter sculptures.
